A SHORT HISTORY OF WATSON STILLMAN CO.

The Watson-Stillman Company, a pioneer in the design and manufacture of hydraulic
machinery was founded in 1848 by Mr. Eliphalet Lyon as the E. Lyon Company and
conducted a small factory for the manufacture of hydraulic jacks, lever punches and
shears together with general jobbing machine work.

After Mr. Lyon's death in 1860, a partnership of  Watson-Stillman was formed to continue
the business.  During these years the company greatly  increased its range of hydraulic
machines.

Mr. Watson died in 1896. The business continued under the direction of the surviving
partner Mr. Francis H. Stillman. In 1904 the company moved its facilities to Roselle, NJ
where it continued operations until the early 1950's when the company was acquired by
the H. K. Porter Company.
In the late 1950's the H K Porter, Watson Stillman Division, was acquired by the Farrel Corporation of Ansonia, CT and its
operations were moved to Rochester, NY. In the late 1960's Farrel Corporation was acquired by USM Corporation (United Shoe The
Conlon Corporation which included most of the Watson Stillman product line including, its name and trademarks, which were
transferred to Mr. John W. Conlon as Farrel had abandoned and ceased to use the name Watson Stillman in its operations.

Throughout the years Watson Stillman products and engineering services have been continuously available. Its enduring legacy
has been the extraordinary quality of its products, the innovative designs, and the legendary  performance of its machinery in the
field.                                                                            
Today, the tradition continues.

and wherever pressures from 50 tons
comparatively small areas.

Standard heating plates and
thermostatic controls are available with
a temperature operating range of +200
degrees to +550 degrees.

Special types of heating plates or
combination electric heating and water
cooling plates can also be provided
foe W-S Laboratory Presses.

WATSON STILLMAN AIR ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS
APPROXIMATE  DELIVERY AND PRESSURE
PUMP DESCRIPTION

These pumps have all stainless steel bodies,
bronze pump chambers, chrome plated alloy steel
plungers, and are equipped with stainless steel ball
valves.

The Double Plunger Pumps are of the two position
type. When the lever is operated at an angle of
approximately 90 degrees, the low pressure piston
is actuated, delivering a maximum pressure of
approximately 850 psi.  When operated at an angle
of 45 degrees, the high pressure piston is actuated,
delivering a pressure of approximately 6,000 psi.  

All tanks are of welded steel construction.

All pump bodies are available without tanks for
direct mounting to other style tanks or reservoirs.
The Watson-Stillman General Purpose Press is designed for short run jobs,
laboratory and experimental work or as a laminating press. Because of its versatility,
the Watson-Stillman General Purpose Press has been put to an almost endless
listing of uses, since it was brought to market many years ago.
Among the uses are:

PLASTIC MOLDING where the length of the run does not justify the installation of a
single purpose machine, it is widely used for producing a variety of parts.

Compression molded products can  first be test run, then,  short runs can be
completed on the same machine.

METALWORKING shops, the press handles a wide assortment of jobs that could not
be done profitably on single purpose equipment. For example, metal forming,
straightening or bending, metal forming, hobbing or forcing.

RUBBER industry, the general purpose press has been successfully used  for
molding rubber sheets, gaskets, washers and other similar items.

LABORATORY work the general purpose press allows the operator to apply a
constant, non-pulsating pressure to the work.

This pumping  unit will maintain output pressure in a stalled
condition and will continuously  make-up or pump, large or
small amounts of the fluid automatically, and as required, to
maintain the preset output pressure.

Once output pressure is set, no further action is needed to
continuously operate or maintain the pump in a stalled or
pumping mode.

Designed for use in all environments, including those where  
hazardous or explosive conditions exist, or  where location
and safety concerns limit access.

Used also for  hydraulic machines, portable or stationary,  
construction jacks,  laboratory presses or other uses that
require air operated hydraulic pumps.

This unit is ideal for hydrostatic testing of valves, tubes,
hydraulic assemblies or  pressure vessels.

Available with standard hydraulic pressure outputs of
2,000 psi, 4,000 psi and 6,000 psi using 100 psi input air
pressure.

Special output pressure can be ordered to your
